To Surfladle first to purchase my new 7.0...but arrived 2.30pm to find out that some git had nabbed it only 30 mins earlier!!! grrrrr

VERY fortunately it turned out to be windier than 7.0 weather. 5.8 was pretty much spot on for the whole session. Started off on my new big board cos I thought it looked a tad marginal, but on 2 well-powered runs it was way too big so changed down to the Skate. This was the perfect board size and although the wind was up and down and occasionally a bit crap with downhaul adjustments I was planing for 90% of the session.

Water state was about as flat as possible for a Shoreham 5.8 day so great for practicing stuff. I completed my first ever totally clean body drag....wooohooo!!! And to prove it wasn't just a flash in the pan I then did another one oh yeah!!! Duck gybes are now at about 50% success rate - I've nailed the ducks (helped by the amazing Wedge 5.8) but need to work on the entries and exits still. Tried a couple of 360s in the straps and got nowhere - but I won't be giving up on them.

Overall a great 3 hour flat water session with all the regulars. Even more satisfying because it was on a Saturday after a 2 week drought, was windier than I was expecting, and it coincided with decent tide times (midday HT so sailed 3-6pm when wind happened to be at it's peak). Only downer was that I missed watching what sounds like a cracking cup final!

The water was noticeably warmer today. My next session will be in the summer suit. :)
